DÜSSELDORFIN

Hey guys! Another late post but at the end of March I took a quick trip to Düsseldorf (Germany) to celebrate a friend's birthday. We only spent around 30 hours or so in the city however it was enough time to explore a little and turn up. The original plan was to travel to Liverpool or Newcastle but believe it was actually cheaper to go to Düsseldorf instead!

We flew to Weeze via Ryanair, but beware Weeze airport isn't actually in Düsseldorf (it's apparently closer to cologne) but anyway about an hour drive later we arrived in the city and at our apartment. Our apartment was a great find (of which I can take all the credit for lol) cheap but super modern and in a good location! After settling in to our apartment my girl and I decided to go for a walk around the city to pick up a few last minute bits that we had forgotten to pack. Little did we know that we would be walking for hours as we cannot follow simple navigation lol, but anyway it meant that we unintentionally got to see more of the city than we had planned to.

Later on that evening we pre-drank and headed to a club (that I can't remember the name of). So prior to our trip we done a bit of research to find some clubs/events that would be urban enough for our crowd lol, as you do. However upon arrival our first impression of this club was, well that we had definitely come to the wrong place. The music was nothing but trance and the crowd was... different. Eventually we discovered another room where they played old school r&b and hip hop, so we finally relaxed and enjoyed the night. Oh and upon entry this club give you a card that you have to use to order drinks, but don't really explain how it works. It turned out that you have to present the card before you can exit the club, where they then calculate the total price for your drinks. A friend of ours actually misplaced his card and was not allowed to leave the club for a while as they believed he was trying to con them out of free drinks lol!

On our second and final day in Düsseldorf we checked out and headed to a cool burger spot called "What's Beef", a short walk from our apartment. The diner appeared to have a hip hop theme, with art work of hip hop legends on the walls and old hip hop anthems playing through the speakers. They also allowed you to create your own burger, despite already having a wide variety of burgers to choose from.

When deciding on where to travel to, Düsseldorf wasn't one of the first places to come to mind. However after a good ol' google search I was optimistic about it all, and I must say I enjoyed my short but sweet trip in the city, of which I would definitely return to!
